Civic Involvement
The Burlington Garden Club has several continuing civic projects. All members are encouraged to volunteer their time, energy and talents to make these projects a success every year. Dates of specific activities are announced at meetings and published in our newsletter & facebook page.
Annual Scholarship
Each year, our Club awards the $500 “Burlington Garden Club Memorial Scholarship” to a
graduating Burlington High School or Shawsheen Valley Technical High School senior who best
fulfills the requirements in accordance with our bylaws.
Garden Therapy
Throughout the year, club members share their creativity with residents at Atria
Longmeadow Place, helping them create small fresh flower arrangements for their rooms.
The Garden Club designs, selects plants, and creates seasonal displays for the
enjoyment of Burlington residents and all people who work and travel through the
town. Maintained by the Garden Club are eight large planters on the Common, a
planter adjacent to the Colonial Garden, a planter at the intersection of Winn
Street and Center Street, and two planters located at the entrance to Recreation Department.
Burlington Science Center
Annual donations to the Burlington Science Center support K-5 programs such as the 2018 Giant Pumpkin Contest and encourage the next generation of gardeners.
