This highly photographic presentation provides instructions on how to raise spectacular roses organically and without chemicals. October 26, 2022 - Discovering the Joy of Bird Feeding
Backyard bird feeding is a wonderful way to attract birds to your property, feel connected to nature, and get to know the characteristics and behaviors of common birds. We’ll discuss different feeder types, the best seed to use, the birds they’ll attract, how to outsmart squirrels, and other ways to encourage birdlife into your yard and community.

This program focuses on propagating houseplants. Various techniques such as stem, leaf and petiole cuttings will be demonstrated. Houseplant pruning and grooming will be discussed, as well as tips on early Spring propagation of popular summer bedding plants. This meeting will be held online. *
March 22, 2023 - Constance Spry: The Martha Stewart of Her Day
After a recap of Constance Spry's unconventional and accomplished life, we’ll learn about her natural organic style design principles. While radical for her time, these designs are still popular today! The program ends with a demo of a Constance Spry-style floral arrangement to be raffled off.
April 26, 2023 - Having Fun with Supermarket Flowers
Learn how to care for and arrange supermarket flowers utilizing different types of containers. Patti Prior will share her tips and tricks with fresh flowers and raffle off the arrangements!
May 24, 2023 - Native Plants vs Invasive Species
This presentation by Suzanne Mahler will provide images of hardy native plants and local intrusive aliens, with suggestions for eradicating invasive species. In season live cuttings will assist with identification.
June 7, 2023 - Annual Dinner Meeting
Just in time for Spring Jana Milbocker of Enchanted Gardens joined us to explore the creation of Jazzy containers or what what she call the “jewelry" of the garden. Jana will lead us in a design session showing us how to elevate planters from “good” to “great”!

Can anyone have enough plants? Come join our first meeting of the 2019-2020 year & bring a friend. Get ready to bid for old favorites or new varieties of perennials, annuals, houseplants or maybe something totally different! Club members will contribute plants of their own to have a great selection.
Enjoy Dinner or Take-out at the Bedford/Burlington Flatbread from 5 to 9 pm. and the Flatbread Comapny will donate a portion all pizza sales to support Garden Club projects.

Get into the spirit of the season! Birdhouses are the theme for this year’s workshop. Please bring floral scissors or pruners & a box to take home your masterpiece. Appetizer Buffet: It’s all about holiday foods! Bring a dish of your favorite appetizer to share.
Our own Master Gardener, Peter Coppola will be presenting his own program “Just the Facts”. Cut to the chase; tips, tricks, mixes and formulas; things to know, what to do and when to do it. Learn about soil preparation, plant selection, watering, organic fertilizers, pest repellents and all purpose sprays.
This program will be held at the Burlington Public Library for the whole community to attend.
Do you know about the 2015 regulations curtailing the use of fertilizers on lawns? No? Then come to this presentation where Jamie Magaldi, a MASS-certified arborist, explains the MDAR regulations, how to comply, and properly feed residential and commercial property lawns. Program in conjunction with the Conservation Commission.
Save seeds from your favorite garden friends. MariePatrice Masse, an enthusiastic gardener from the Stow Garden Club, has been collecting seeds for many years. She will entertain you with stories of "finding" seeds in unusual places. This presentation includes a hands-on component where you can "gather seeds" from a large collection.
Kathy Leva, Accredited Flower Show Judge, will lead us in creating a design using seasonal flowers and greens. Bring floral scissors or pruner and a box to take home your finished masterpiece! Learn about the chemicals which elicit biochemical reactions in the human brain making chocolate the perfect indulgence. Mike Cross, an Assoc. Prof of Chemistry will show us how to taste chocolate for quality and how to eat it too!

Paul Sellew, CEO of the local company Little Leaf Farms, is passionate about sustainably grown great-tasting greens. He will show how they farm without further eroding the fragile topsoil, depleting groundwater, or using harmful chemical pesticides.
Come learn why native plants are so valuable in your gardens! Claudia Thompson gives us an overview of the essential importance of native plants to ecosystem health and how to create habitats for birds, tips for sourcing native plants from nurseries, and give you the knowledge and resources to use native plants in your own landscape projects! Conservation begins at home. This program has been funded in part by a grant from the Massachusetts & Burlington Cultural Councils.

Calling on all families, neighbors, and friends! Come to our fundraiser at the Bedford/Burlington Flatbread from 5 to 9 pm. Purchase locally sourced wood-fired pizza either in the dining room or online and a portion of the proceeds benefits our garden club. Raffles and baked goods round out the evening!

The landlocked forest is a 270 acre parcel of land located between Routes 3, 62, and 128S bordering Burlington, Bedford, and Lexington. Martha Simon, Burlington resident, landlocked forest advocate and Burlington Historical Society member, will tell us what has been done to preserve this area, what needs to be done, and how our club can help.
March 28, 2018 - Strength Training for Gardeners
Judith Wolff presents her strength-training workshop to provide more stamina and less pain when you go out into your gardens. Bring a yoga mat and some 2 or 3 lb weights to join her on the floor, or watch and learn from the comfort of your chair. Either way, you’ll leave with a program you can follow to make your time spent in the garden more fun and worthwhile.
